Maintaining a tradition of intellectual excellence and world-class diplomacy, a delegation of students from Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) recently participated in the Committee Session of the Asia World Model United Nations (AWMUN). Held in the magnificent Grand Ballroom of the Swiss Grand Hotel, Seoul, from April 15-21, 2026, it provided a platform for the students to demonstrate their internationally-minded maturity before the world.
In this exclusive forum, the students are not merely members, but global citizens with profound thinking. They actively participate in speech competitions and high-level diplomatic simulations, presenting transformative ideas and solutions to complex global issues with argumentative and poised rhetoric.
During the session, the Thursina delegates played a crucial role as representatives of sovereign nations. They were required to master the art of negotiation and formulate collective resolutions with young intellectuals from various parts of the world. This experience provided invaluable international exposure, developing public speaking and critical thinking skills within international protocol.
The interactions among participants build a substantial global network. This is where intercultural awareness is examined; they learn to understand divergent perspectives through constructive dialogue, while maintaining their dignity and identity as a civilized Muslim generation.
To balance the intense dynamics of the session, the students underwent a cultural immersion program, including visits to several historical sites and iconic destinations in Seoul. Their journey through the grounds of Gyeongbokgung Palace, the beauty of Wonminsan Azalea Park, and the bustling modernity of Myeongdong offered a rich perspective on the blend of heritage and modernity. These activities broadened their global horizons, ensuring that each student developed a mature cross-cultural mindset.
Ustaz Febryan Yustiadi, S.Pd., the Vice Principal of Student Affairs in Thursina IIBS, emphasized that this involvement is a strategic step in building the future legacy. "Participating is an investment in their character. We prepare them to view the world with wisdom, learning to appreciate diversity without losing their fundamental roots," he said confidently.
