Ihsan Syathir Alfarisqi, a 9th-grade student of Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS), won proudly the second place in 2025 Indonesian Junior High School/Islamic Junior High School Achievement Festival (OLIMAWISA) for the 1st Juz of the Quran Recitation competition.
The event, held at SMK Telkom Malang, attracted participants from various regions, making it prestigious and highly competitive.
Ihsan's participation in tilawah competition was inseparable from special supervision of the school. Ustadz M. Faruq Al Farosyi, the Head of Thursina IIBS Al-Quran Recitation Center, explained that intensive preparation has been executed a couple weeks before the competition.
"At the first meeting, Ihsan chose the rhythm he would perform, and then we validated it to ensure it suited his vocal character. Followed by practicing vocal training, rhythm strengthening, and tahsin (recitation of the Quran), thus his recitation adhered to the rules of good and correct recitation," explained he.
.
The structured and focused training yielded positive results. Ihsan confidently presented himself before the panel of judges, reciting holy verses melodiously and deeply. Although it was his first achievement since studying at Thursina, it is an evidence that hard work and determination always bear fruit.
Furthermore, Ustadz Faruq admitted that he was proud of his students' success.
"Alhamdulillah, his prayers and hard work have finally paid off. I cannot thank you enough for the achievement, and I hope this is a good start for his following steps," he said.
The coordinator of Al Quran recitation center of Thursina IIBS emphasizes that the experience has to be used as an inspiration, not the end of a learning journey. In his message to Ihsan, he stressed the importance of being humble.
"Keep on learning, don't be easily satisfied with your current results. The success should be an encouragement to hone your tilawah skills continuously, so that you can achieve even better results in the future," he said hopefully.
Ihsan's achievement also encourages other students at Thursina IIBS. His success demonstrates that with sincere intentions, regular practice, and guidance from teachers, every student has the potential to shine at the national level.
With genuine enthusiasm for learning, hopefully Ihsan and his colleagues will bring honor to the Islamic boarding school in various competitions, both in the field of Quranic studies and others. (iz/lil)
