The eleventh-grade female students of Thursina IIBS participated in the Short Course in Visual Communication Design, held at Harvard Hall on November 17, 2025. The program is a crucial part of developing 21st-century skills, particularly in the field of visual communication, which is increasingly needed in education, profession, and the global creative industry. According to Ustaz Helmi Pakas, M.Pd., the Head of Specialization Program in Thursina IIBS, it is part of Specialization Programs designed to develop competencies in specific fields.
"The unique feature of the short course this year is our direct collaboration with the 24Slides Team, an international presentation design company known for its world-class visual standards. Through the partnership, students have the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals in the international industry," explained Ustaz Helmi.
The mentors from 24Slides provide comprehensive material, from basic visual hierarchy and color psychology to professional layout techniques. Students not only receive theory but also engage in hands-on experience working on creative content designs.
After producing work, they receive detailed feedback from professional designers, so that each participant understands the strengths and areas for improvement in their design.
The atmosphere during the class was filled with enthusiasm and creative exploration. The students learn seriously about developing visual concepts, selecting color palettes, and arranging design elements according to the principles they had studied.
Learning by doing approach makes the activity fun and challenging, an experience enriching their visual skills and insights.
Ustaz Helmi Pakas emphasized that the main goal of the program is to help students hone their creativity while improving practical skills relevant to the needs of the digital era.
"Good visual communication skills are a crucial competency for the younger generation to be able to convey ideas effectively and valuably," explained the Thursina Physics teacher.
With strong enthusiasm for learning and expert guidance, Short Course in Visual Communication Design not only enhances creativity but also prepares them to compete on the global stage. "Thursina IIBS hopes this program will be a strategic step in developing a creative, competent, and adaptable generation to the developments of the modern industrial world," concluded the Head of Specialization Program.
