Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) affirmed its commitment to develop a Qur'anic generation by awarding development funds and educational scholarships to students who have memorized the Qur'an. The appreciation was expressed in the Qur'an memorization graduation ceremony, the culmination of the Qur'anic study program for students in grades 9 and 12, held solemnly in Thursina IIBS Mosque.
Thursina IIBS distributed 5 million rupiah in the development funds to 10 male and 7 female high school students who were assessed to have demonstrated perseverance, consistency, and strong Quran memorization qualities, especially for those who had completed memorization up to 30 juz. In addition, high school scholarships were also awarded to 3 male and 2 female junior high school students with a total value of Rp380 million, as a support for the continuing education of the hafidz and hafidzah.
The Chief of Education of Thursina IIBS, Ustadz Muhammad Rajab, M.Pd., explained that the award is part of a sustainable and measurable memorization development system. He said, the appreciation is not just a ceremony, but rather an educational instrument to maintain the quality and accountability of their memorization. "The Tahfidz graduation and the award are not merely a form of recognition. We want to ensure that every student is not only capable of memorizing, but also possesses strong, consistent memorization, and is ready to be accountable for it," said Ustadz Rajab.
He added that the Dauroh Tahfidz (memorization) process is designed to train discipline, mental resilience, and sincerity in interacting with the Quran. Through the programs, Thursina tries to instill an awareness that memorization is a long-term trust that must be maintained throughout life
The Tahfidz Graduation Ceremony was also attended by Sheikh Abul Imam Nashruddin Ishom al-Tamaddi al-Azhary, Ustaz Fathurrahman Hafidzahullah, Ustaz Nur Abidin, M.Ed., Ed.D (Cand.), Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Thursina, and the staff of Thursina IIBS.
Before receiving the award, the students underwent a rigorous and structured Dauroh Tahfidz (memorization) program. The process began with a review of Juz 30, 29, and 1, as well as reinforcement of Juz 2, 3, and 4 for Thursina Middle School alumni. This phase aims to ensure the memorization remains solid and maintained before the evaluation process.
The following stage is the tryout and submission of memorization scores to assess the quality of memorization and the mental readiness for the formal exam. The evaluation is carried out meticulously by the musyrif (religious advisors) and examiners, adhering to the strict standards typical of memorization education in Thursina IIBS.
The students then took a closed exam, the Istimror (verse continuation) test. Each student was tested three times on each juz (chapter), with a total of nine questions, to measure fluency, accuracy, and memorization resilience. The Dauroh Tahfidz (Quran Recitation) series concluded with the Munaqosyah Ammah, an open exam, which served as a final assessment and a demonstration of the Quran's teachings before teachers and guests.
Ustadz Rajab emphasized, through the Dauroh (Islamic outreach) and appreciation system, Thursina IIBS wishes that the Quran will not stop at academic achievement alone, but will truly shape the students' character as a whole. "Our hope is that the Quran will truly live within the students, becoming the foundation of their morals, intellectuality, and future leadership," he concluded.
