The Jordan Language Camp program attended by students of Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) was successfully held as an Overseas Academic Program integrating Arabic language learning, spiritual building, and exploration of Islamic civilization on the global level.
The program ran 23 days, starting with a departure from Malang to Jakarta - Istanbul - Amman, and continued with learning and worship sessions in the Middle East. It was designed to provide a comprehensive academic and spiritual experience for the students.
While in Medina, the participants engaged in various religious activities in the Nabawi Mosque; scientific circles, pilgrimages to historical Islamic sites, and independent worship. These activities maintain the development of religious character and strengthen spiritual discipline in daily life.
The Language Camp program mentor, Ustaz Zainul Arifin, M.Pd., explained that the program was formulated not only as an academic journey, but also as a space for developing the character and spirituality of the students.
He said that the Jordan Language Camp provides an opportunity for students to learn Arabic firsthand in an authentic environment, while also experiencing the atmosphere of worship in the Holy Land, strengthening their spiritual awareness.
"The Jordan Language Camp originated to hone Arabic language skills while developing the spiritual depth. They learn in an Arabic-speaking environment while experiencing the atmosphere of worship in the Holy Land, fostering spiritual awareness and self-discipline," he explained.
In addition to intensive Arabic language classes and daily communication practice, they are involved in religious practices that are an integral part of the program. Including the Umrah rituals, the Umrah pilgrimage, and a Ramadan experience in the Grand Mosque; sahur (pre-dawn meal), fasting, tarawih prayers, and qiyamul lail (night prayers).
Ustaz Zainul added that the cross-border learning experience provided a new dimension to the educational process. Interaction with local communities, cultural discussions, and academic visits opened their minds to the dynamics of Muslim life in various parts of the world.
The program, furthermore, is aimed to foster social maturity through travel experiences, togetherness in congregational worship, and intensive mentoring during the journey. This approach allows students to develop not only academically but also emotionally and spiritually.
According to him, this experience is expected to be an important provision for students in designing their educational vision and contribution in the future.
"The program is expected to be a transformative experience, building character, broadening horizons, and strengthening the students' identity as lifelong learners," he concluded.
Through the Jordan Language Camp, Thursina IIBS reaffirms its commitment to offer an education integrating spiritual depth, academic excellence, and global perspectives.
