The Sustainablue Project Roadshow & MoU Initiation were held at Harvard Thursina IIBS Hall on Tuesday, December 9, 2025. It was attended by 10th and 11th grade students to develop insights in science, environment, and sustainable innovation, integrated with global education.
The agenda is a collaboration between Thursina IIBS and the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) Surabaya, specifically the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science and Data Analytics (FSAD). The program is designed to inspire young people to understand marine issues, the blue economy, and ecosystem protection as future challenges requiring science-based solutions.
Three keynote speakers from ITS Surabaya attended the roadshow: Aunurohim, S.Si., DEA., a senior lecturer in the Department of Biology, FSAD, ITS; Prof. Dr. Awik Puji Dyah Nurhayati, S.Si., M.Si., the Head of the Department of Biology, FSAD, ITS; and Dr. Ni Wayan Kussytasari, a lecturer in the Department of Biology, FSAD, ITS. They presented the role of applied science and research in addressing global environmental challenges.
The activities included an introduction to the Sustainablue Erasmus+ Project, insights into advanced studies at FSAD ITS, and the Community Service Kick-Off: Eco-Enzyme Workshop, highlighted the transformation of organic waste into eco-friendly products. Through these sessions, students were encouraged to think critically and be open to innovative, sustainable-based solutions.
Ustaz Rois Haqiqi, M.Pd., Gr., the Principal of Academic, in his statement said that the program is in line with the vision of Thursina IIBS in building a generation that is open-minded, caring about the environment, and ready to compete globally.
"We want students to not only excel academically, but also have ecological awareness and the courage to engage with real-world issues," he said.
Through the Sustainablue Project Roadshow and MoU Initiation, Thursina IIBS affirms its commitment to provide holistic education that is relevant to global challenges. Hopefully, the agenda will be the first step for students to grow as future scientists and innovators who will contribute significantly to environmental sustainability and global civilization.
