Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (Thursina IIBS) officially sent its 10th and 11th grade students to the Australian Language Camp program, which will take place from November 13–30, 2025. This prestigious program is organized through a strategic collaboration with Flinders University, Adelaide, under coordination of Thursina International Office (TIO).
This year, the language camp carries the tagline "Unlock the World through Language: Explore, Connect, and Grow" as part of the student development program, emphasizing on advancing academic capacity, expanding international experiences, and developing a proper global perspective.
"Through the program, we want students to not only learn English in the classroom, but also experience firsthand how language is a gateway to explore the world, build connections, and grow as global learners," said Ustadz Qoirul Mansur Darojad, M.Pd., the Chief of Thursina International Office (TIO).
While in Australia, the students will live with a host family as a process of developing independence, cross-cultural adaptability, and getting to use English in everyday life. Furthermore, in the academic field, they will attend intensive General English: Listening & Communication and Introduction to English for University Study, as well as sitting-in Business, Science, and Health classes in Flinders University.
"Students will attend language courses and some classes at Flinders university. It offers a real-life experience of global academic standards and learning atmosphere at a foreign campus," explained Ustadz Qoirul in an indirect statement.
To develop academic ability, they will receive assignments of journal and book reviews, and daily reports to hone international literature research skills, summarize lecture materials, and reflect on everyday experiences during the program.
This language camp is also curated as a comprehensive cultural immersion programs from a cultural perspective. Students will participate in various exploration activities, including visits to Victor Harbor, Granite Island, Urimbirra Wildlife Park, and the coastal area at Glenelg Beach. "Direct interaction with local residents, living with host families, and exploring cities in Adelaide and Sydney will help students see the world with broader perspective, while still upholding Islamic values of manners and morals," said Ustadz Qoirul. The combination of language classes, sit-in lectures, and cultural visits is expected to build confidence in using English, both in academic and social contexts.

He added that the program is structured in two phases: two weeks in Adelaide focusing on language and academic enhancement, followed by a city visit, providing international students with a glimpse of life in a major city of Australia.
At the end of the interview, Ustadz Qoirul emphasized that the language camp is part of Thursina's long-term endeavor to prepare a generation with readiness to come on the global stage.
"We hope that the students will return to Indonesia with significantly improved English skills, a cross-cultural friendship network, and a broader perspective on studying abroad. But most importantly, they will retain their identity as a student with a good moral," he said.
"Our goal is to graduate internationally minded alumni who are confident on the global stage, yet remain steadfast in Islamic values and ready to serve the community. We would like to demonstrate that Thursina's overseas program goes far beyond a mere school trip or short visit through concrete partnerships with world-class universities and structured overseas programs, an international program, which is thoughtfully prepared for the future of our students," he concluded.
