To foster academic insight and prepare students for higher education, Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) held a series of Campus Excursions 2025, both domestically and internationally. This annual event offers opportunities for 12th-grade students to gain a deeper understanding of the world of college, including academics, campus culture, and opportunities for personal development on a global scale.
The National Campus Excursion (DN) program was held in two major cities: Surakarta and Yogyakarta. Thursina students visited Surakarta State University (UNS), Veteran National Development University (UPN) Yogyakarta, and Islamic University of Indonesia (UII). During the visit, they did a campus tour, an introduction to campus life, a trial class, and a lunch session with students and faculty representatives.
Ustaz Wildan Pradistya Putra, M.Pd., Gr., Vice Principal of National University Enrollment, explained that the program prepares students to continue education to a higher level. "The main goals are to gain real-life understanding of the academic atmosphere at national university and to understand the importance of synergy between Islamic values and professionalism," explained Ustaz Wildan.
Meanwhile, the Overseas Campus Excursion (LN) focuses on introducing students to the international academic world by visiting Western Sydney University Indonesia, the Embassy of Japan, and Jakarta International College (JIC). At the first destination, they gain firsthand experience through campus tours, campus life socialization, and trial classes focused on global academic collaboration. Furthermore, at the Japanese Embassy, the participants gain insight into Indonesian culture, education systems, and scholarship opportunities.
Ustaz Zainal Arifin, Lc., M.A., the Vice Manager of International Affairs, said the overseas excursion is not just an academic visit, but a concrete step to prepare a generation of Thursina who are able to think globally without abandoning their Islamic roots. "We want students to have a broad global perspective, understand the discipline and work ethic of the international community, while upholding the Islamic character, the foundation of Thursina," said Ustaz Zainal.
On both national and international destinations, the entire Campus Excursion 2025 is designed to encourage students to be more than observers, active learners who can engage in dialogue, ask questions, and analyze education systems across countries.
Thursina IIBS hopes that all participating students will obtain valuable lessons from each campus visited. The insights are expected to inspire them in pursuing higher education with mature mental, spiritual, and intellectual readiness.
"The Campus Excursion is not a mere academic journey, but also a life journey promoting the vision of becoming leaders with global competitiveness and Qur'anic morals," concluded Ustaz Wildan. (iz/lil)
