Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (Thursina IIBS) officially saw off 10 male and female students to continue their studies at Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt, through the Thursina Fellowship Program on Tuesday (December 9, 2025). The program is the result of a strategic partnership between Thursina IIBS and Al-Azhar University, one of the oldest and most influential centers of Islamic scholarship in the world.
The departure was led by the Chief of Secretary Office & Partnership of Thursina IIBS, Ust. Mohamat Taufik, M.Ed, accompanied by the Vice Manager of Overseas University Enrollment, Ust. Zainal Arifin, M.A. It was also witnessed by the management of the Cakrawala Insan Azhari Foundation and the families of the students.
In his speech, Ustadz Mohamat Taufik, M.Ed., stated that it is a crucial step in preparing a generation of future scholars and leaders with a global perspective. "Maintain your identity as Thursina students: religious, caring, open-minded, and inspiring. You come as ambassadors of Islamic moderation values on the international stage," he emphasized. He added that Thursina is committed to provide access to quality international education through scholarship schemes, upholding meritocracy and prioritizing achievement.
He, furthermore, stated that the program demonstrates the institution's commitment to provide concrete opportunities for students to penetrate into the global academic ecosystem and contribute to civilization. He believes it represents a long-term investment in the quality of future generations.
The scholarship applicants previously underwent a series of selection tests covering academic, language, character, as well as mental and spiritual readiness. They also underwent intensive coaching to prepare for the learning system and international student life at Al-Azhar University.
By the departure, Thursina IIBS reaffirms its role as a globally recognized educational institution that consistently paves the way for students to pursue their studies in leading universities worldwide, while also reinforcing commitment to offer a holistic and balanced education. (lil)
