Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) once again held the Madinah Language Camp on January 30 - February 22, 2026, as its international immersion program designed to develop students with excellent language skill, spiritual maturity, and possessed a global Islamic perspective. This program integrates intensive Arabic language learning, character development, and spiritual immersion in the two holy cities of Medina and Mecca, providing a comprehensive learning environment at the heart of Islamic civilization.
The journey began on January 30–31, 2026, via an international route to Medina. Upon arrival in the Holy Land, the students immediately entered a spiritual immersion phase through congregational prayers at the Nabawi Mosque, Qiyamul Lail (the night prayer), morning dhikr (remembrance of God), and collective reflection. This initial phase was arranged as an adaptation process and academic orientation before the core Arabic language learning program. The mosque had become a spiritual laboratory to sustain the discipline of worship, travel etiquette, and character development in an international context.
Stepping in the main phase on February 2–12, 2026, students participated in the Core Program: Arabic Language & Character Development in the Islamic University of Madinah. Every morning, they attended Arabic language classes with a communicative and applied approach, honing active language use skills in real-life contexts. The program was enriched with some thematic agendas such as the Arabic Culture Day Experience, Leadership Program, and Muhadatsah in Real Life held around the Nabawi area. This approach emphasized direct communication practice, building language confidence, and internalizing manners while living in a multicultural environment.
The Language Camp focused not only on linguistic aspects but also on building intercultural awareness and preparing students to interact in the international Muslim community. The program handbook also included guidance on etiquette, rules of conduct, and Umrah rituals, as part of the integrative development of knowledge and morals. After completing the academic phase in Medina, the group continued their journey to Mecca on the Haramain High-Speed Train on February 13, 2026, to perform the Umrah pilgrimage.
The agenda at the Grand Mosque includes tawaf (circumambulation), sa'i (sacred pilgrimage), qiyamul lail (night prayer), Quranic contemplation, and the farewell tawaf (circumambulation) as the final step of spiritual learning. It serves as a momentum for value consolidation—integrating language skills, disciplined worship, and personal reflection within the sacred space of Islamic civilization.
The Language Camp facilitator, Ustaz Zainul Arifin, M.Pd., emphasized that the program is designed as an inclusive educational experience. "We designed the Madinah Language Camp as a comprehensive learning experience, where students not only learn Arabic in class but also bring it to life in worship, social interactions, and daily life in the Holy Land," he said.
He added that the primary goal is to develop students with active Arabic language skills and a mature spiritual depth. He believes Medina becomes a training ground for students to grow into a generation of knowledgeable, civilized Muslims with a global perspective, understanding their role within the international community.
The Madinah Language Camp is not just a pilgrimage or a short study trip, but rather a process of character development and global vision. Through a combination of academic immersion, spiritual discipline, intercultural interaction, and leadership development, students are projected to become a generation capable of thinking globally without losing their Islamic identity. The program affirms Thursina IIBS commitment to provide an education synergizing knowledge, faith, and international insight, preparing students to be competent, confident Muslims who are ready to contribute to the global community.
