Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (Thursina IIBS) through the Thursina International Office (TIO) officially completed International Language Camp Australia 2025 on November 13–30, 2025. The program is part of Thursina IIBS commitment to prepare globally competent students by mastering English, preparing international study readiness, and broadening cross-cultural experiences.
In the Farewell Ceremony held at Flinders University, all participants received official Language Certificates after attending the General English: Listening & Communication and Introduction to English for University Study. Ustadz Qoirul Mansur Darajat, M.Pd., the Chief of IOP, said the certificates have strategic academic value since they support credit recognition and serve as proof that they have firsthand experience with the academic standards and learning environment of leading research universities in South Australia.
Ustadz Qoirul added that the program is a regular Thursina initiative to ensure the students receive excellent learning experience. "The program is optimized to provide authentic international academic exposure. The students not only learn the language but also experience a world-class university environment firsthand," he said.
He also emphasized that International Language Camp Australia is part of the Thursina IIBS internationalization roadmap. He indirectly conveyed that this experience offers a crucial foundation for preparing students in the global higher education.
In addition to classes at the main campus, participants learn technology at Flinders Tonsley Campus for introductory sessions on robotics and industrial technology. It expands their academic horizons beyond language to include the development of modern science within a global-standard university environment.
While in Adelaide, the students enriched their knowledge through educational and cultural visits to various major locations, including the State Library of Adelaide, the Art Gallery of South Australia, the South Australian Museum, and the Adelaide Discovery Museum. They also learned about Australian unique wildlife in a visit to Urimbirra Wildlife Park. As a refreshment and introduction to urban life, they stopped at the Harbour Town Premium Outlet while observing social and cultural interactions.
The tour continued to Sydney City Cultural Immersion. In this metropolitan city, they visited world icons like the Sydney Opera House and Sydney University, and got into a Sydney Boat Cruise to have a closer look at the harbor dynamics and atmosphere of a prime international student destination. The journey complemented the academic and social experiences in Adelaide.
With the combination of academic activities, cultural exploration, interaction with local residents, the experience of living with a host family, and academic assignments such as daily reports and journal reflections, the International Language Camp Australia 2025 is a comprehensive program in developing language skills, self-confidence, and leadership character.
Ustadz Qoirul added that global education must remain grounded in moral principles and the identity of Islamic boarding schools. "We want our students to be able to go global without losing their identity. Internationalization is not just about traveling abroad, but a process of cultivating excellent character that benefits society," he said.
Thursina IIBS believes that the program will build a generation of internationally minded students, excelling in academics, and ready to serve the wider community, both nationally and globally. (lil)
