In commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) held a flag ceremony in the Alexandria field, Campus 1, and the Sorbonne field, Campus 2, on Sunday, August 17, 2025. It was attended by all management, teachers, and staff members of Thursina IIBS, as well as Junior and Senior High School students. All attendees solemnly engaged in the ceremony, lining up neatly and listening to the details of the whole agenda.
The event is a crucial moment for the entire Thursina IIBS family to remember the services of the heroes and strengthen patriotism. The sound of the national anthem "Indonesia Raya" stirred the heart, reminding us of the nation's long struggle towards independence.
The Independence Day commemoration in Thursina IIBS began at around 7:30 a.m. Ustaz Fauzi, ST, the Chief of General Affairs of Thursina IIBS, was appointed as the ceremony instructor in Campus 2 (male). In his speech, he invited all participants to pray for the freedom fighters and predecessors of the Republic of Indonesia who sacrificed for our independence.
"Our real enemy today is not colonialism, but laziness and moral decline. Today's students are fighting back by pursuing knowledge. We are familiar with the term holistic and balanced education in Thursina , emphasizing both religious and scientific knowledge," added the Chief of General Affairs of Thursina IIBS.
Meanwhile, in campus 1 (female), the ceremony was led by Ustaz Rahadika, S.Pd., the Chief of Waqf, Endowment & Enterprise of Thursina IIBS. Echoing Ustaz Fauzi, he also stressed on the importance of learning and broadening knowledge in order to contribute generously to the nation and state.
"The commemoration of the 80th Indonesian Independence Day is not merely a ceremonial event, however, it is self-reflection to realize the ideals of Indonesia through hard work and discipline," he emphasized. "The baton is in our hands. We need to strive through learning, achievement, and innovation to be competitive," he continued.
Furthermore, the two Ceremony Instructors delivered the main message to the entire Thursina IIBS family to apply the values ââof Religious, Care, Open-Minded and Inspiring (RECORDING) in everyday life.
The 80th Indonesian Independence Day ceremony in Thursina IIBS is both a symbol of commemorating Independence Day and a moment of reflection for all personnel to maintain their commitment to national unity.
In addition, the students of Thursina IIBS performed a colossal drama inspired by the events in South Sulawesi, during the Makassar struggle for independence from the Dutch on December 10, 1946. Drawing on the moment of independence and the spirit of national brotherhood, Thursina IIBS is committed to contribute greatly to the development of a better Indonesia. (lil)
