Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) has officially established a strategic partnership with the Indonesian International Education Foundation (IIEF) to administer the TOEFL Institutional Testing Program (TOEFL ITP). The collaboration aims to strengthen the measurement of English language skills of students, teachers, and educational staff with international assessment standards.
The two-year partnership agreement allows for both paper-based and digital-based TOEFL ITP exams in Thursina IIBS, with a total capacity of up to 600 participants throughout the partnership. The program is open not only to internal participants but also to public, seeking English language certification for academic, professional, or scholarship purposes.
Ustadz Sulton Mistam, S.Pd., the VP of English Language of Thursina IIBS, stated that this collaboration is part of Thursina's commitment to offer a measurable and globally competitive English language assessment system. "The TOEFL ITP provides an objective and internationally standardized assessment instrument. By the collaboration, we ensure that the English language skills of students and educators in Thursina can be credibly evaluated and widely recognized," said Ustadz Sulton.
He added that the TOEFL ITP results will be used as a basis for comprehensively mapping English language proficiency and as a reference for developing advanced learning programs within the school. "These test results are not just numbers, but a strategic foundation for us to design improvements to the quality of English language learning, making it more focused and sustainable for further studies of Thursina students," he said.
Moreover, he stated, the collaboration with IIEF, the sole official representative of the Educational Testing Service (ETS) in Indonesia, ensures the quality, integrity, and security of the exam. The entire testing process is conducted based on official ETS procedures, from supervision and oversight to report the results.
Under the partnership, IIEF is responsible for providing TOEFL ITP test materials, supervising the exam, processing test results, and issuing score reports and certificates. The exam results are also supported by a Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) score conversion to facilitate interpretation of participants' English language proficiency.
The collaboration is expected to maintain the English language learning ecosystem in Thursina IIBS while expanding access to internationally recognized English language certification for students and the wider community. (lil)
