Another success was gained by a student of Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS), Muhammad Rafa Shaquilla Putra, a 12th-grade student who successfully qualified for the provincial level in the 2025 Indonesian Madrasah Olympiad (OMI), organized by the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The achievement is a pride since his first time passed to the provincial level in high school Olympiad.
It cannot be separated from an intensive coaching program. Ustaz Muhammad Jundi, M.Pd., Thursina IIBS Olympic coach, explained that Rafa is a member of the Olympic coaching club, regularly held 2-4 times a week for the last five months.
"The training is conducted out of class hours, usually from midday to evening. Alhamdulillah, the hard work has paid off, and made it to the provincial level," said Ustaz Jundi.
"We, the student affairs department, competition coordinators, and tutors, are extremely proud," he added.
Rafa himself is known as a disciplined student with a strong interest in science. Previously, he participated in some academic competitions, although he never reached the provincial level.
"Alhamdulillah, I'm very grateful to be qualified for OMI this year. This is my first time competing at this level, so it's certainly a huge motivation to study harder and prepare more for the next stage," said Rafa.
Thursina IIBS hopes he would inspire other students to dare to compete and hone their academic skills.
"Hopefully, Rafa is able to achieve further in the future and bring Thursina's good name to greater heights," concluded Ustaz Jundi. (iz/lil)
