Studying in Australia, the Alumnus of Tazkia IIBS is Optimistic to be Game Designer

Choosing major for his continuing education, Ahmad Tsaqif Hibatul Wafi Chusnurrofik be confident in his choice for Game Design and Animation major in Curtin University. One of the first graduates of Tazkia International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) has the idea to be game designer since a long time. After careful consideration, he decided Curtin University, Australia.

His interest in game has begun to flag in junior school. Wafi, his familiar name, saw how the game designer played his own game. For him, it is remarkable. His sheer inspiration is Jeff Kaplan, the Vice President of Blizzard Entertainment and game designer of his favourite game. Since then, he has decided to be game designer.

"Game, in the modern era, is beneficial for many sectors, from operational system in industry to training hand-eye coordination.  It cannot be considered on the negative only, but also on the positiveness," he said. Initially, he, the first boy from four siblings, planned to study in Japan fot its renowned sophisticated technology, even, preparing himself by learning Japanese language. However, international class for the destined major is unavailable thus he decided to choose Australia to continue to higher education.

For the admission, he is required to prepare some documents including IELTS score. Following the preparation, starting from the first of grade 12, he dared himself to take the test in last February.

"Even though I have lived in Australia since I was a child, I still have difficulty in writing and reading test, therefore I need to study hard," he says. Knowing the national examination is cancelled, he went to Australia to prepare his study because the semester would have started in March.

"After receiving enrolment documents from Tazkia, I started to enrol and passed it five days before the first semester began. All praise be to Allah," said the top student of English language in the graduation in last July.

The son of Ir. Mohamad Anshori Chusnurrofik and Maskunah Chusnurrofik realises that his major, Game Design and Animation, is novel for most people. For him, it is not a big problem when one chooses the major he wants, though it is unfamiliar for wider community. “Maybe because I would rather learn something I want to learn that motivates me, rather than learn something you do not like but people pressure you on doing it,” he says.

He would like to introduce Indonesia by creating game. Furthermore, he will speak in a seminar or workshop for students of Tazkia. He advised his junior not to be worry when meeting people with different characteristics in university. "There is no such acting like you know me, everyone will be friendly when meeting new people," he told.
