Another remarkable achievement was attained by students of Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) by gaining a Gold Medal in the International Science and Invention Fair (ISIF) organized by the Indonesian Young Scientist Association (IYSA).
This prestigious competition provides a platform for students from various countries to showcase their scientific work, and this year, students from Thursina IIBS have impressed with innovations, combining creativity, environmental awareness, and the courage to experiment.
Ustaz Arif Fatahillah.F., M.Pd., the team's mentor, said the preparation lasted an entire month. Practice was held after school, with extra sessions on Saturdays and Sundays.
"The team members showed incredible dedication. They didn't complain even though they had to practice after school time; instead, they became more enthusiastic on every single day," said Ustaz Arif.
Although some of them had participated in previous competitions, the ISIF presented a new challenge. While they typically compete in piano competitions or academic Olympiads, this event required them to create an original scientific work.
The biggest challenge was at the practical stage because their project raised the theme "Waste to Wealth: Turning Pollution Into Power", an innovation processing plastic waste into energy through the pyrolysis process.
Ustaz Arif revealed that the initial process was filled with "anxiety" because the equipment involved fire and gas, making safety a top priority. However, over time, they began to understand the work procedures, recognize the tools, and master the research methods.
"When they start to gain confidence and are able to operate the equipment independently, I'm even more confident that they're ready to compete," the International Student teacher emphasized.
Winning gold medals for all team members is proof that hard work, teamwork, and intense curiosity result in impressive achievements. The team members are: Aldan Rafli Saguna, Ahza Hafiarta, Almer Daniswara Eka Prasetyo, Chausar Firmansyah Baqarizky, Daniyal El Fatih Maulana Ardiansyah, and Mahardika Faris Azka. They not only brought honor to the school but also showed that the younger generation is capable of providing solutions to environmental issues.
In closing, Ustaz Arif expressed his hope that the students would continue to develop, study harder, maintain teamwork, and produce more innovative scientific works in the future. "This achievement is not the end, but rather the beginning of the long journey of creating and contributing to the community," he concluded proudly. (Iz/lil)
