Perkuat Peran Alumni, Thursina IIBS Gelar Diskusi Bridging Continents

Thursina for Male of International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) once again presented an inspiring agenda for its students. This time, entitled "Bridging Continents: My Journey to University Life in Turkey," the event was held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, in TICH Leiden room. It featured Nur Fawaz Daffa Sulaiman, a fifth-year alumnus of Thursina IIBS High School who is currently studying in Sakarya University, Türkiye, majoring in Psychology.

In the forum, he, known as Fawaz, shared his experiences from the initial application process to his acceptance as an international student in Turkey. He explained the intensive preparation, from foreign language skills, administrative requirements to adjustment to a new culture.

He believes that the opportunity to study abroad is a tremendous occasion, offering not only a world-class education but also a chance to expand his international network.

"Studying in Turkey has given me a new perspective on the world. I have learned a lot in the classroom, and from the diverse international environment," Fawaz told the participants.

"Thursina students must dare to dream and prepare themselves early for opportunities like this," he added.

Vice Manager of International Affairs of Thursina IIBS, Ustaz Zainal Arifin, Lc., MA, stated that the agenda was conducted to encourage students, especially grades 11 and 12, so that they would eagerly continue their studies abroad.

He revealed, Thursina alumni in international universities are clear evidence that Islamic boarding school students have the same scope as other students.

"The main goal of the program is to raise the enthusiasm of students. We want them to realize that continuing their education abroad is entirely feasible with serious effort and thorough preparation," said Ustaz Zafin.

The students furiously attended and actively asked questions about the registration process, the challenges of student life in Türkiye, and available scholarship opportunities.

Thursina IIBS hopes more students will be inspired to explore global educational opportunities through the discussion, and not just stop at the national level.

By the agenda, Thursina emphasized its commitment to support vision to build a generation with RECODING character.

The presence of alumni like Nur Fawaz Daffa Sulaiman is expected to be a real inspiration for his juniors as they prepare for their educational futures. (iz/lil)
