Amidst the tight schedule of studying and boarding school activities, one of the Thursina IIBS students named Keyarra Jomaizolla Shinayang achieved brilliant attainment in the Red and White Festival held by the All-Indonesia Badminton Association (PBSI) of Bekasi City.
Keyarra successfully triumphed first place in male single category. The tournament, held at the MSC Stadium in Babelan, Bekasi, West Java, on August 22â24, 2025, attracted many talented young athletes from various regions.
Ustaz Munahar Al-Amin, S.Pd., as Coordinator of Sport & Art of Thursina IIBS and his coach, revealed the victory was a special moment for the 7th-grade student of Middle School of Thursina IIBS. In a number of tournaments participated in previously, he had mostly stopped at the third podium, however, "This is the first time for him to reach the top stage. Precedently, he often won third place," explained Ustaz Munahar.
Ustaz Munahar explained, the accomplishment did not just happen instantly. Keyarra trained with great discipline, practicing daily inside the boarding school, and three times a week at the sports hall outside the school. The intensive training was carried out among the busy schedules of study activities and religious programs. "We are really delighted, of course, for the eagerness in practicing amidst demanding daily activities, yet, allowing him to gain the victory," said Ustaz Munahar proudly.
Meanwhile, he, a student from Surabaya, expressed his gratitude for taking home the first-place trophy. "I'm so excited to win first place. I've always wanted to win, and I finally did it. Thank you to the teacher, parents, and friends who have always supported me," said he, residing in Ubay bin Ka'ab room 9.
"If God will, I would try harder to join in bigger tournaments," he said enthusiastically.
Later, the Coordinator of Sport & Art of Thursina IIBS hopes the victory will not only motivate Keyarra personally, but also inspire other students of Thursina IIBS. "Hopefully, it would encourage other students to join in competitions, especially in badminton," he concluded.
Keyarra's achievements are proof that Islamic boarding school students excel in academics and Islamic studies, as well as in sports. An unyielding spirit and disciplined training are the keys to his rise to the top. (iz/lil)
