Thursina International Islamic Boarding School (IIBS) officially held the Samsung Digital Lighthouse School (SDLS) Inauguration as a new milestone in maintaining digital-based education transformation.
The event was held solemnly and enthusiastically, marking the beginning of a strategic collaboration between Thursina IIBS and Samsung in providing an innovative and sustainable learning ecosystem.
This prestigious agenda was attended by the leaders of Samsung Electronics Indonesia and Southeast Asia, including Haryadi Japarif, Integrated Mobile Experience B2B Channel & Partners Part Leader Samsung Electronics Indonesia, and Carl Nordenberg, the VP & Regional Head of Mobile Experience Business Samsung Experience SEA & Oceania.
Furthermore, Dwi Anggraeni, S.Pd., M.Pd, the Head of Malang Regency Regional Education Office Branch, attended and fully supported for improving digitalization in education units.
Ustaz Nur Abidin, M.Ed, Ed.D (Cand.), the CEO of Thursina IIBS, and Ustaz Dr. H. Muhammad Ali Wahyudi, the Chairman of Thursina IIBS, along with the board of directors and senior advisors appeared at the event as well. The presence of these policymakers affirmed a shared commitment to foster the advancement of Islamic education that is adaptive to global technological developments.
In his speech, Ustaz Nur Abidin expressed his appreciation to the board management of Samsung for the trust given to Thursina IIBS. Moreover, he explained the blueprint for institutional development and Thursina's achievements over the last decade.
"The collaboration with Samsung is a concrete manifestation of our commitment to implement the spirit of digitalization into all educational programs in Thursina IIBS," said Ustaz Abidin.
Meanwhile, Haryadi Japarif in his remarks emphasized that Thursina IIBS is the first boarding school in Indonesia, collaborating with Samsung in the Samsung Digital Lighthouse School program.
"The SDLS is built on five main pillars, learning innovation, sustainable programs, teacher development, student engagement, and communication branding as the foundation for developing future digital schools," explained the Integrated Mobile Experience B2B Channel & Partners Part Leader of Samsung Electronics Indonesia.
The appreciation was also conveyed by Carl Nordenberg, who assessed Thursina IIBS as a modern school that utilizes technology optimally in the learning process.

The series of events continued with a presentation of innovative work of Thursina IIBS teachers entitled "Lumina", an Augmented Reality (AR)-based learning model designed to integrate the understanding of technology, science, and sustainability issues in a contextual manner. By Lumina, the concepts of mining innovation and sustainability awareness are presented visually and interactively, enabling students to understand modern mining processes, environmental impacts, and the importance of sustainable practices through immersive digital simulations. It is a convincing demonstration of the use of technology as an informative and transformative learning medium.
In addition, the invited guests attended a presentation of robots delivered by Thursina IIBS students, which reflect the students' ability to apply science, technology, engineering, and technology (STEM) concretely. The robots were designed and developed by the students through a project-based learning process, emphasizing problem-solving, programming logic, and team collaboration. This work underscores Thursina IIBS's commitment to build an educational ecosystem that encourages creativity, innovation, and prepares students to deal with future technological challenges.
As the highlight of the event, the symbolic inauguration of the Samsung Digital Lighthouse School was held at Andalusia Building, the center for digital learning development of Thursina IIBS.
The event concluded with a campus tour, where the guests were invited to explore the facilities and campus environment firsthand, as well as witness the integration of technology into the Thursina IIBS educational system closely. (iz/lil)
